Cuprinol Stain Stripper 2.5 Litres

Cuprinol Deck Stain Stripper is a new, low hazard, effective way of removing peeling or flaking surface coatings such as stains, paints and exterior varnishes from your decking, prior to refinishing with a new stain or oil.  It will not remove solvent-based oils or stains that absorb into the wood. It is compatible with both hard and softwoods.

How To Use Cuprinol Deck Stain Stripper

Prepare the deck by sweeping with a stiff brush to remove any loose debris or any organic matter that might prevent the stripper from acting on the surface.  Make sure that if the deck is grooved, there is no residual debris in the grooves.  Stir thoroughly before use.  Wear suitable protective gloves and apply by brush, covering generously and evenly.  Leave until the surface begins to blister and test scrape an area to see if the bare surface underneath is visible.  If so then the coating can then be removed with a stripping knife, making sure that all previous coating is removed from the grooves if present.  Collect the waste and dispose of safely and responsibly.

If multiple layers need to be removed the product can be left for up to 4 hours.  Once the deck is back to bare wood it can be washed down with water or with White Spirit to avoid raising the grain.  This process can be repeated if there is any of the previous coating still left on the deck.  Allow the deck to dry thoroughly before refinishing.  Remove any excess from tools which can then be cleaned in warm, soapy water.

This product should only be applied in dry weather conditions in temperatures above 5°C.  Do not use if rain is forecast before the job will be completed.
