Fiddes has been caring for wood since the 1900s, all beginning in the UK with their founder Albert Fiddes. They have a reputation for developing and producing high quality wood finishing products including Fiddes Supreme Wax, Wood Stain, Shellac Sealer and lots more.
By 1950, Fiddes became a major supplier of Wax Polish, Lacquer, Shellac and Wood Dyes for the antique restoration and furniture market. From there, Fiddes expanded their traditional range of Wood Varnishes and French Polish to include a wider range of wood coatings.
It was in the late 60’s that Fiddes introduced an innovative quick drying wax polish that would eventually become their famed Supreme Wax Polish, some 20 years later.
The 1980’s was a time when the antique pine furniture market saw rapid growth. Plus, the 80s saw Fiddes Supreme Wax Polish become the market leader for pine furniture, not just in the UK but in Europe and the USA. This growing demand meant it was time for Fiddes to upgrade to a larger manufacturing facility.
The new millennium was a great time for development and innovation at Fiddes. The rising demand for waterborne coatings led to the formulation of Fiddes Hard Wax Oil. This turned out to be an ideal alternative to other, more traditional floor oils.
