Use Liberon Boiled Linseed Oil for a mellow, gloss finish to new or bare internal wood.
Boiled Linseed Oil is very similar to Liberon Raw Linseed Oil, but has had hot air passed through it to improve drying times. Boiled Linseed Oil is traditionally used to seal terracotta tiles, stone floors, and other porous surfaces prior to waxing. It is also used as an additive to oil-based paints by artists.
For easier application, dilute the first few coats by up to 30% with Turpentine. Rub well into the wood with a lint free cloth and after 20 minutes remove any excess oil with a clean lint free cloth. If this isn’t done it will inhibit the absorption of further coats and potentially result in a sticky surface. If this part of the process is overlooked, just wipe the surface with White Spirit to remove the sticky film and then allow to dry before recoating.
Allow 24 hours between coats and once the final coat has been applied, leave to harden for a few days before use. To achieve the best possible result, gently rub between coats with ultra fine steel wool (grade 0000).
To clean and maintain simply wipe with a damp cloth and buff dry. Re-oil as and when necessary. Store unused oil with the lid tightly in place and at a temperature above 5°C.
* Please note that this product is not recommended use on exterior oak. For this use Pure Tung Oil.
* Oily cloths have the potential to spontaneously combust, so do not leave used cloths in bundles. Lie used cloths flat outside to dry before disposal.
