Sam has grown up using the products that we sell. “I have grown up with my Dad restoring antiques by day and old racing cars by night. Naturally, we had a house full of quirky old things, my brother and I had no choice but to be hands-on, practical and learn how to fix things. Dad built me a work bench and gave me a set of chisels at the age of four. Working in the family business growing up has given me the experience of using even the specialist products and an understanding of the difficulties faced by our customers. I believe this helps us continue to improve our service.”
His Dad, Westie, was an Antique Restorer for almost 30 years working with some prestigious names such as Christie’s Auction House. Westie was taught by a craftsman who was the apprentice, of an apprentice of an apprentice going back to the 1600s. He was a restorer for over 30 years and still works on furniture and classic cars now.
Sam’s Vision for Restorate
“Genuine care for customers, thoughtful and experienced advice, taking time to understand individual problems, and providing thorough information to assist them making informed decisions. We strive to cover all of these.”
“Above all, with Restorate, I hope we can inspire and empower our customers to look after antiques, old properties, old cars and more. Find the bargains with character and have the joy of bringing them back to life. In a world of disposable, mass produced products, we are passionate about the handmade, the beauty in imperfection, and the patina of previous generations’ love. Skills are being lost with an older generation of craftsmen that are struggling to communicate with younger generations. This is where the heart of our Restorate mission lies.”
