UK Mainland Deliveries

Easter 2026 Bank Holiday Weekend: Our warehouse will be closed over the bank holiday weekend. All orders placed after 4pm on Thursday 2nd April will be shipped on Tuesday 7th April.

All next day standard services to UK Mainland are FREE if your order is over £80 including VAT.

Returns Policy

If you have mis-ordered, don’t require the item or have been sent an item not ordered, please notify us within 30 days of receipt and we will accept the return.

We have a 30-day return policy, which means you have 30 days after receiving your item to request a return.

To be eligible for a refund, your item must be in the same condition that you received it, undamaged and unused, and in its original packaging. You’ll also need the receipt or proof of purchase or request a returns reference to enclose in the package. Find our Refund Policy here.

Barrettine Wood Protective Treatment seals and protects exterior wood from water, UV, mould, and algae. It offers a natural finish perfect for sheds and fences.

Its solvent-based deep-penetrating formula delivers a breathable, microporous finish that helps reduce swelling, twisting and decay, while allowing the wood grain to remain visible through a translucent matt to satin finish.

Suitable for rough, sawn, or smooth exterior timber.
Ideal for sheds, fences, trellis, pergolas and gazebos.
Low odour and odourless once dry.

How to apply:

Ensure the wood is clean, dry and free from previous coatings (remove any existing finishes if necessary).
Allow new timber to acclimatise outdoors before treatment where possible.
Treat any mould or contamination and remove dust and debris.
Stir thoroughly before and during use to maintain colour consistency.
Apply evenly using a brush, roller or suitable sprayer, working in the direction of the grain.
Pay particular attention to end grain, joints and cut areas.
Apply 2 coats, allowing at least 12 hours of drying time between applications.

Pro tips for an exceptional finish:

Always test a small area first to confirm colour and compatibility.
Rough timber will absorb more product and give a deeper colour than smooth wood.
Ensure wood moisture content is below 20% before application.
For untreated exterior wood, use a suitable wood preserver beforehand for full protection.
Avoid over-application. Thin, even coats improve absorption and finish quality. Rough wood will absorb more of the treatment and will produce a deeper colour than can be expected on smooth or planed wood.
Not suitable for decking or high-wear surfaces; use a dedicated decking oil if needed.
Allow full drying before use, especially on surfaces where colour transfer may be a concern.
