Key Features
Osmo Door Oil has been specially formulated for the treatment of internal wooden doors and joinery. It is designed to absorb into the wood leaving a flexible, micro porous, lightly waxed finish, which maintains the natural beauty of the wood.
Osmo Door Oil is based on natural plant oils and waxes It will protect against general daily wear and tear and common household liquids including water, tea, coffee, cola, wine and many more. High solid and micro-porous Osmo Door Oil won't crack, peel or flake. As is usual with solvent-based oils, the clear version (3060) will enhance the natural colour of the wood. If you wish to keep light woods looking as close as possible to their original colour then choose 3033 Raw, which counteracts this effect.
It is ideal for use on solid wood but can be used on certain veneers (check with the manufacturer of the door for compatibility with solvent-based oil).
Osmo Door Oil must be applied to bare wood, so any old paint, varnish or lacquer will need to be taken off with a suitable remover. If the wood needs to be sanded, start with a coarse paper and finish with P120-150 for solid wood doors.
Apply thinly and evenly in the direction of the grain using a brush or microfibre roller. Once dry, apply a second coat in the same manner. No priming or sanding between coats is needed.
This product can keep for 5 years or more if kept in the closed original can. If it becomes thickened by frost over winter it should be kept at room temperature for 24 hours before use to allow it to return to the correct consistency.
