Rustins Danish Oil is uniquely formulated and is suitable for all types of wood.  Rustins Danish Oil is a special blend based on Tung Oil which is processed and mixed with other vegetable oils and resins to increase the hardness. Once dry it is food safe and conforms to the EN71.3 safety standard for children's toys.
It is a clear oil that will bring out the wood's natural colour. However if additional colour is needed it can be mixed with Rustins Wood Dye up to a maximum of 30%.
With an easy to use wipe on finish, Rustins Danish Oil brings out the beauty of the timber and gives a natural, open-grained, low-lustre finish. It is mainly suited to indoor use but can be used outdoors as a base coat under exterior wood or used alone as a high maintenance finish. In this context it will require ongoing top up coats and regular maintenance.
To apply, firstly ensure the wood is clean, dry and free from any previous finishes such as wax or lacquer or any other potential contaminants.  Oily woods should be scrubbed with white spirit first and then wiped before it dries.  Stir well and apply liberally by cotton rag or brush.  Any surplus oil should be wiped away after a few minutes.  Once the first coat is dry the next can be applied. The ideal temperature range in which to apply this oil is 15-25°C. It should not be applied if the temperature drops below 5°C.
Usages:Â Suitable for all interior and exterior bare wood, doors, joinery, garden and indoor furniture. Rustins Danish Oil is perfect for wood turnings and wood carvings.
