Description

MDF swells when it gets damp or is in a humid atmosphere. Rustins Clear MDF Primer is the solution that seals the MDF prior to Varnish or Paint application. It is suitable for use on all grades of MDF including interior, exterior, flooring and moisture resistant. It can also be used as a wood sealer and conforms to the toy safety standard EN71 part 3.

Prepare the surface by ensuring it is clean, dry and free from any potential contaminants. Bare MDF can be coloured prior to sealing with Rustins Wood Dye.

Stir well before use and apply liberally with a brush, foam pad or sponge. One coat will usually be enough but edges or routed areas may need a second coat. The sealer will be touch dry in 30 minutes but allow 2 hours before applying a second coat or painting/varnishing. The ideal temperature range for using this product is between 15-25°C. It should not be used in highly humid conditions or if the temperature falls below 10°C.
