Polyvine Exterior Extreme Varnish
Description
Description
A water-based cross-linked polyurethane varnish with advanced resin technology that gives an exceptional level of protection from a single pack product.
Heavy Duty Extreme Varnish can be used for interior or exterior jobs and contains UV blockers to protect against greying plus biocides to guard against mildew, mould or fungus. It also offers high levels of protection from heat and chemicals.
This varnish can be used on a variety of surfaces including wood, paintwork, marine, concrete paving, unglazed tiles, slate and brick.
In preparation, ensure that the surface to be treated is clean, dry and free from any previous finishes or potential contaminants such as oil or grease. Oily woods can be degreased with Methylated Spirit. If applying to wood, sand in the direction of the grain to provide a key. Remove any dust with a tack cloth. New and weathered wood should be sanded first with P80-120 grit for vertical surfaces and P60-80 for horizontal. If it is possible that the wood is contaminated with fungus or pollen spores it should first be treated with a preservative as spores trapped below the clear varnish could discolour the surface if exposed to moisture.
Mix the varnish well but do not shake. Â
If applying to porous surfaces or to new softwood the first coat should be diluted 10% with water. Â Lightly sand wood in between coats if the grain raises. To give the best durability, stain resistance and UV protection for the dead flat finish it is best to apply three coats of satin and then a final coat of dead flat.Â
* This varnish is not recommended for oily open-grained hardwoods such as Iroko as the grain texture will cause film failure. An oil would be advised in this case.
** Do not use this varnish in temperatures below 10°C or in very high humidity.
