Osmo Top Oil is a special formula of oils and waxes, designed for the natural treatment of kitchen worktop surfaces and many other internal joinery projects.  It is toy safe, conforming to EN71.3 and food safe to EN1186 part 5/14.

Osmo Top Oil is designed to absorb deep into the wood, leaving a flexible, micro porous, waxed finish, which protects and maintains the natural beauty of the wood. It protects against normal household liquids including water, wine, beer, fruit juice, tea, coffee and many more, yet still leaving the wood with a natural look and feel.  It will not crack, flake, peel or blister.

To prepare, make sure that the surface is clean, dry and free from any possible contaminants.  Any old paint or laquer must be taken off with a suitable remover.  Carefully sand the surface in stages, beginning with a coarse grit and finishing with a maximum of P150 for worktops and P240 for furniture.  Remove the sanding dust with a vacuum or tack cloth.

Ensure that the surface is clean, dry and free from any previous coating.  Using a brush, Microfibre Roller, or lint free cloth, apply thinly in the direction of the grain and allow 8-10 hours drying time before applying a second coat with a lint-free cloth.  If renovating an already oiled surface, then a single coat applied by cloth is usually sufficient.  Cabinet drawers and interiors only need one thin coat applied by cloth.

Available colours:  3058 Clear Matt, 3028 Clear Satin, 3068 Natural, 3061 Acacia, 3039 Graphite, 3037 White

NOTE:  The clear matt and satin versions will enhance the natural colour of the wood (wetting the wood will give an indication of the colour this will produce).  If you are oiling a light coloured wood and want to retain its original colour then use 3068 Natural, which counteracts the darkening effect. preserving the natural tone of the wood.
