Mylands 2000 Pale Shellac Sanding Sealer Basecoat
Description
Description
Mylands 2000 Pale Shellac Sanding Sealer Basecoat is a medium build sealer for wood surfaces. Prefect for sealing wood before wax polishing or French Polishing.
Why use a Shellac Sanding Sealer?
Sanding sealers are used for a variety of reason in traditional wood finishing and restoration.
Fundamentally it is to create a stable surface to build either French Polish or Wax Polish upon, without absorption or uneven colouring in the wood grain. Sanding Sealers also seal wood dyes or stains prior to a top coat, preventing the stain pulling off.Â
Many finishers using sanding sealer to fill the grain, instead of or alongside grain filler.
As Shellac sanding sealer is higher build, it means less subsequent coats of French Polish or wax are required to get a "piano finish' - which means there are no dimples of the grain visible in the reflection of the finish.
