The NEW Mirka DEROS RS 600: The Answer to Your Heavy Duty Sanding Prayers! Unboxing and Features

Mirka have just released the lightest, most user-friendly and effective heavy duty Rotary Sander on the market and we were lucky enough to get early access to go through its features and test it with a local joinery - see Mark’s reaction below the feature list!

At only 1.8kg, the versatile heavy duty rotary sander offers the most efficient solution to aggressively sand wood, metal and composites in conjunction with Abranet ACE

The 750 Watt 230V brushless motor offers an incremental 6-step disc speed of 700 rpm to 2500 rpm, using similar indicator LED lights as the DEROS II.

What struck us was how quiet and low in vibration the DEROS RS was to use. Even on the aged oak beams in the video below, you felt like you could easily and enjoyably sand with it for hours.

The RS has the same 150mm backing pad as the traditional DEROS II 650CV, but is a noticeably larger machine. 

“No Need for a Belt Sander”

We’ve already had feedback that this machine removes the need for a belt sander to be followed by using an orbital sander. Using the DEROS RS with P40, P80, P120, the user can get any rough surface ready for coating in seconds. With the RS, the process is dust free thanks to the shroud that holds the dust in to be extracted.

DEROS RS Price Point

Like with the DEXOS, we were nervous that such a high spec machine would come with a high price tag. However, at £533 inc VAT for the Launch Pack (including 4x boxes of Mirka Abranet ACE HD Discs (Box of 25)), we were pleasantly surprised that this retails at a similar price to the DEROS II.

Note: In order to effectively sand, use the pad saver on the backing pad. Without it the sanding disc will not protrude past the shroud.
