Last October, all the excitement of the very soft launch of Mirka’s first in house designed and manufactured dust extractor quickly fizzled due to silly teething issues and warning beeps.
These were easily fixed with retro-fitted caps over the float level cut off flap and the filter (being interfered with by the inflating dust bag), along with a software update to remedy an over sensitive airflow monitor.
Mirka decided to hold the DEXOS away from the UK until these glitches were fully sorted in a long term manner, re-releasing them in Europe in February/March to see if the issues were solved.
We are excited to be the one of the first in the UK to receive the re-launched Mirka DEXOS 1217M AFC Dust Extractor, due in stock in the first week of June 2025.
Best Practices
- When using the Mirka 32-27mm hose that comes with (or is compatible with) all Mirka tools, use the 32mm Diameter hose setting on the DEXOS.
- Don’t hold the end of the hose flat to the surface as this will trigger the airflow sensor.
- If you’re on a lower suction setting, you might need to change the hose diameter setting to the 27mm or smaller to avoid the airflow sensor alarm going off.
- When finished wet extracting, have a spare dry filter to hand to swap in for dry extraction
- If the filter gets gummed up or damaged, replace it if the dust won’t tap out
- Replace the fleece dust bag if full
- Where possible, to the best machine longevity, use a Mirka Fleece Dust Bag when possible, even though it will work without one.
M-Class Airflow Sensor is a Feature, Not a Bug
Part of the M-Class HSE specification is to have this airflow sensor and alarm (beep) to alert the user that the suction is not high enough to safely remove the dust required to meet health and safety HSE regulations.
Hence, this M-Class sensor will beep and cut off power if any of the following are affecting suction:
- The dust bag is overfilled
- The filter is blocked or needs replacing
- The suction power setting is too low
- The hose diameter setting is incorrect
- End of the hose is blocked - by hand or large pieces of debris
Mirka DEXOS and 1230M Comparison
Since the launch, we’ve had many customers wanting to see a side by side comparison between the DEXOS and 1230M. Essentially the DEXOS does everything the 1230 does and more - both having the same suction and 1200W power. However, in larger workshops the larger 30L capacity of the 1230M is favourable.

From the table above, the main points are that the DEXOS is creating the same amount of suction, whilst being a smaller, more compact unit. The downside is that it is a slightly more noisy, but this is maximum noise when the filter is being cleaned. The great thing about the DEXOS is that you can change the frequency of the filter pops/bangs in the MyMirka app.
Mirka are yet to confirm if the DEXOS will be available in a 30L capacity or even 110v voltage in the future but we will be surprised if that isn’t the case. Ideally a dual voltage machine, like the LEROS, would be brilliant!
Conclusion
In summary, the DEXOS looks like it is going to be a hit in a range of markets due to its power, compact size and versatility. The early teething issues have been addressed very well, giving us as a distributor and our customers piece of mind to invest in it. As with all Mirka tools, the DEXOS comes with 2+1 year warranty so if anything goes wrong, it will be fixed quickly and without cost to the customer.
If you’d like to purchase the Mirka DEXOS, we’ve put together some bundles below, saving you between £50 for the Essentials Bundle to £278 saving on the DEXOS, DEROS II and DEOS II Bundle vs buying the components from us separately.
