Ronseal Perfect Finish Diamond Hard Floor Varnish is a hard wearing water-based treatment for new or previously varnished interior wood.  It will provide excellent protection against scuffs, knocks and scrapes.  It will not yellow with time and will retain the natural appearance of the wood.

It is fast drying, being touch dry in 30 minutes and ready for a second coat after two hours.  It includes the Perfect Finish applicator pad in the tub.

How to apply

The varnish cannot be applied if the working area is too cool, so make sure the temperature remains above 10°C and is well ventilated.  If going onto unvarnished wood, the floor will then need to be sanded with a 120 grit abrasive.  After vacuuming up the dust wipe the floor down with White Spirit.  If there are any holes they can be filled with Ronseal Multi-Purpose Wood Filler.

If the floor is already varnished and in good condition then it can be lightly sanded with 120 grit paper to provide a key.  Vacuum up the dust and then wash down with White Spirit.  If the old varnish has begun to flake off then it is best to sand it back to bare wood.

Stir the varnish well and apply two floorboards at a time.  Three coats will ensure the best protection but before applying the third coat lightly sand with 240 grit paper and wipe with a damp cloth.  It will tolerate light use after 2 hours but needs to be left for 24 hours before putting any furniture back.  After 72 hours it will be fully cured.

Coverage is 18m2 per litre and the applicator can be cleaned with warm soapy water. The surface can be maintained easily by removing any dirt or grit with a damp microfibre cloth or mop and then swept or vacuumed.
