Liberon Raw Linseed Oil is a must for protecting and nourishing your wood! Use on close or hard grained wood, ideal for oiling your favourite cricket bat and safe for use on children's toys. Used by French Polishers as a time-honoured lubricant, Liberon Raw Linseed Oil is also ideal for adding to other oils to mix a unique blend. It is often added to putty to keep it soft.
Application: Ensure that the surface is clean, dry and free from any previous finish. To make application easier, the first few coats can be diluted up to 30% with Pure Turpentine. Alternatively, the oil can be heated by placing it in a container in a bowl of hot water. DO NOT heat Raw Linseed Oil that has already been diluted with Turpentine.
Rub well into the wood with a clean lint free cloth. Leave for 20-30 minutes then wipe away any excess oil with a clean lint-free cloth. If this step is not taken, further coats will not be absorbed into the wood and leave a sticky surface. Should this happen then wipe with White Spirit to remove the sticky film an allow to dry before continuing with the oiling.
A minimum of 3 coats is recommended and the final coat should be applied undiluted. For best results rub lightly between coats with ultra fine steel wool (grade 0000). Allow the final coat to dry for a few days before subjecting to use.
To clean and maintain, simply wipe with a damp cloth a buff dry. Re-oil the surface as and when needed, depending on it's usage.
* Please note that this oil should always be stored at a temperature above 5°C with the lid properly in place.
